From “The Language of the Soul: Meeting God in the Longings of Our Hearts” by Jeff Crosby
After reading The Grand Essentials a new life was breathed into a passage in Colossians 3, becoming a guiding verse for my life and my work, whatever occupation I would hold: “Whatever you do, accomplish it from the soul, as to the Lord, and not to people, because you know that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. Serve the Lord Christ” (vv.23-24 Lexham English Bible).
As we long to live a life of meaning, and if our work occupies most of our waking hours, the importance of wrestling with occupational and vocational questions early and often, in community with others, is a wise course of action.
