When I surveyed some of my friends and readers, I found that almost 90 percent of them said that there was a time in their lives when they knew what God wanted them to do. Some of their experiences appear in this book. Their experiences of God’s direction were as varied as the people I surveyed. While their God-encounters were unique, there were some similarities. Each of them said:

  1. they found it daunting to say that God led them
  2. their experience of divine direction was unmistakable
  3. their experience pointed them to God
  4. they were led to act
